MTS India,mobile telephony brand of Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd. has launched MTS TV which offes customers to view television on their desktop and laptops . TataTeleservies had earlier launched same service for its Tata Photon+ users.
Similar to Tata Photon MTS too has collaborated with Apalya Technologies for delivering MTS tv service. With MTS Tv all MBlaze customers(wireless data card ) can view more than 60 Live andVideo On Demand (VOD) channels from news, entertainment, sports, kids, movies and regional language category.
With MTS Tv ,MBlaze customers would be able to watch Tv on their Laptop/PC. MTS TV uses Windows OS and MAC OS and does not require any other software.
There are no subscription charges for accessing Tv.The customer need to just download free MTS Tv application from the MTS website and switch to selection of the favorite channel for viewing. The service usesHigh Speed Broadband platform and is available in all 57 cities of MBlaze presence. At present 60 channels are available and very soon other on demand channels and Live Cricket updates will be available on MTS TV.
Speaking on the launch Mr. Leonid Musatov, Chief Marketing Officer, SSTL, said, ““Increasingly, new forms of content are making their way onto mobile devices – music, in particular, is already booming – and the latest buzz is about television. MTS TV is yet another feather in our cap to offer the best of service to our valued customers. As an emerging industry, mobile TV will require a willingness of operators, regulators, broadcasters and device suppliers to strike new deals. Consumer reaction and usage patterns will help the broadcast andmobile industries understand what content viewers want to see on this exciting new technology.”
Charges:There is no subscription charge for MTS Tv.Customers will be charged for data download as per their existing data plan rate.Normally 1.5 MB data/Minute gets downloaded while watching Tv on Mobile or Laptop.This way for viewing 30 minutes of Tv around 45 MB data would be downloaded.If a customer’s data rate is 50p/MB so it would come to Rs. 22.50/30 Minutes which seems to be very costly.
The service is also available on roaming with standard data roaming charges in all cities of MBlaze presence.
Very recently Tata Photn and Reliance netconnect had launched Mobile Tv on Samsung Corby Tv phones i association with Apalya Technologies.
