Bharti Airtel, one of Asia’s leading integrated telecom service providers had teamed up most popular radio channel “Radio Mirchi” and introduces a service which will allow Airtel’s GSM mobile service customers in all telecom circles across India to access Radio Mirchi stations of 12 regions including Metro cities Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The Airtel Mirchi Mobile services aims to targeting the migrant population who are far from their homes and would be able to listen to radio in their native language. Airtel’s “Mirchi Mobile” service will be hosted on a technology platform powered by Spice Digital. Initially the service is available to Airtel customers in Delhi and Mumbai, shortly followed by the rest of the country.
Airtel GSM Mobile service users can dial 59830 and start listening to the radio station of their choice at subscription charges of Rs.10 a week for first 100 minutes.
Prashant Pandey CEO,Radio Mirchi stated “Mobile radio is going to be a good business proposition in coming months. We want to leverage it now. Radio is a very big draw among the Indian population,”
According to Mr.Shireesh Joshi, Airtel Mobile director marketing (MS) “This is the first time we are attempting this and we are upbeat about the service. It is also for the benefit of regions where radio feeds do not reach. It has a huge market potential.
