Vodafone introduces handset for Rs 799

Competition in telecom is compelling operators to try different strategies for increasing their customer base. Tariff cuts have become a norm and innovation a rule. Vodafone Essar  has launched cheapest handset of Rs 799 in the market to further increase its subscribers base.. The model VF 150 comes with one year warranty and is not SIM locked. Customers will be given free Vodafone connection with the handset. The handset, Vodafone 150 (VF 150), weighs about 70 gm, has a one-inch B&W display, is equipped with speakerphone and a torch. The cost of the phone includes 4 per cent VAT, but the Rs 799 tag could vary in a few states, owing to different tax structures.

“The cost of handset can be a significant barrier for people in accessing and benefiting from the mobile revolution.
