At the time when MNP (Mobile Number Portability) is on its verge to make its first launch in Haryana, Idea has already announced its ‘Switch to Idea’ plan through commercials. At this time many companies are looking forward to adopt MNP plan in their networks, Idea has taken the lead.
DoT (Department of Telecom) has decided 25th November to be the launch date of MNP in Haryana circle and then with time it will spread in rest of the circles. According to Mobile Number Portability, the subscribers will have the option to switch between other mobile operator without loosing the old number. That means with MNP users will be able to change their network and still regain their past number.
Talking about Haryana, at present it has 8 cellular operators namely Etisalat DB , Airtel, Aircel, Videocon, Idea, Loop, BSNL and Vodafone. There will be option from 25th November with subscribers to switch from one operator to other. As per the data revealed by Cellular Operators Association of India, Haryana has 1.68 million subscribers as on Oct 31, 2010. There are 700 million subscribers all over India at present.
For now no official statement has been made as on which state will receive Mobile Number Portability implementation after Haryana. But for now in Haryana, DoT has decided that all the operators will activate these changes in one go. And DoT said that even if one out of eight operators will not agree for the implementation, the plan will be successful. The chief corporate affairs officer at Idea Cellular Limited, Rajat Mukarji has announced that the company will initiate MNP services from 25th of November 2010.
for now we are waiting as for which circle will be next to receive the MNP services from all mobile operators.
